WILMSLOW HALF MARATHON RACE REPORT
"We got a fantastic day for it - cool verging on cold, windy but mostly just a light breeze, cloudy and overcast at the start, threatening rain, but clearing to intermittent sunshine by midday.
A well organised race, starting at Wilmslow Rugby Club, and with around 3800 runners I think. The course was on closed roads - for the most part country B roads winding gently through the rural agrarian landscape of Cheshire. The route was an out and back with a big loop in the middle and at 50 minutes in (I was at around 4.5 miles) the front runner came blasting past on the return. Amazing!
Pottled past farms, thatched cottages, a lovely old church in Mobberley and environs. Conditions underfoot were dry, there were tons of marshalls and first aid folks on the course, and plenty of supporters cheering people on. At the finish, we got a wicking t-shirt and a lovely engraved glass paperweight along with a Mars bar and some powerade. Finished in 2.24.55 (watch time) and 2.25.10 (chip time) so pleased to have shaved 7 minutes off the last HM time in Dallas. Roll on Chris Hoy!
A recommended race and thoroughly enjoyable.
Heather"
