INAUGRAL EDINBURGH PARKRUN. CRAMOND / SILVERKNOWES PROMENADE

SATURDAY, 17th OCTOBER 2009.

The view - Cramond Island

Well done to all those that took part in the first Edinburgh Parkrun. A beautiful autumn morning saw over 200 runners congregate at Cramond for the first event. This is a free, timed, 5km run which takes place every Saturday morning at 0930. Run and marshalled by volunteers, times are available on the website shortly afterwards. Full details of the history of Parkruns, the Edinburgh event, registration, course etc at Parkrun. If you can, take the opportunity to take part and/or to help out by volunteering. An excellent and welcome addition to the Edinburgh running calendar. Thanks and congratulations to all the organisers and volunteers.ERN was well represented, some good times as well.

PS:  If you do register and take part, please remember to affiliate yourself to ERN. If you've already registered but forgot to be affiliated, drop them an email and they'll update your details.

Chris said:   "This was a fabulous start to the first Edinburgh Parkrun series - the organisers couldn't have asked for better weather - no wind at Crammond who could believe it! With sun shining and 200 runners the organisers are hopefully really pleased with themselves - they deserve to be! It was a tad chilly to start with - but the David Lloyd trainer certainly got us jumping about and pretty well warmed up in no time. The out and back route was extremely flat; some great times and as a one off for this first event, a banana and coffee at the end - what a great way to start the weekend. It was good to see ERN well represented ... though I didn't actually see anyone (other than Les of course!); perhaps we need bright orange tops ... I'd really recommend this for anyone who's wanting to keep an eye on their 5k times or who hasn't done much racing ... nice way to ease in - or for anyone who wants a friendly Saturday morning run with fantastic views."
