ERN SUMMER RUNS: "THE 4 TOPS & THE 3 DEGREES"
SUNDAY 15TH AUGUST 2010.
Arthur's Seat (823 ft)
Following requests for a hillier Sunday run to help with training for the Glasgow Half, Geneva, Loch Ness and the Kilomathon, 17 ERNs turned up to tackle either the 7 mile “3 Degrees” or 15 mile “4 Tops” route. The weather was a bit hazy to begin with as the runners left Meadowbank to tackle Arthur's Seat, Calton Hill and Castle Hill but that started to burn off and it was clear and hot by the time they’d started the return leg from the Castle. Murdo and Denise went on to tackle the “4 Tops” by taking in Corstorphine Hill via a visit to the Gallery of Modern Art to admire the landscaped lawn! Certainly fulfilled the hill training bit although the hot weather also had drawn out the festival crowds, especially along Princes Street and at the Castle, necessitating a return for both routes via the Cowgate instead of the busy Royal Mile. Stunning scenery and a different kind of route made for a good run. Thanks to Heather for the routes.
