ERN SPRING RUN SERIES - CASTLES AND SHORE
SUNDAY, 8th MARCH 2009. GLENOGLE BATHS
Despite the wintery conditions, nine brave ERN souls met up outside Glenogle baths for this 9.5 mile run. As the Baths are currently being refurbished, there wasn’t a place to shelter so it was a case of up-and-away as soon as possible. The weather, which had been ominously brooding, held until just after the warm-up at Inverleith Park; thereafter it hailed then snowed and didn’t let up until the 5 mile point approaching Silverknowes Esplanade. The route takes you up from Inverleith park, via Comely Bank to the Art-Deco flats at Ravelston Gardens and Mary Erskine School before descending via Craigcrook Road (no horses in their usual field this time) and Davidson Mains, past Lauriston Castle (and the sheep) to the shorefront and along to Granton Road where up and back past the Botanical Gardens. Fiona, Fi, Alan, Aicha, Susie, Phil and Murdo completed the run while Ely and Krista did a slightly shorter eight mile variation. Both are lovely runs but were an interesting challenge in the conditions, so well done to all.
