ALLOA ROUND TABLE HALF MARATHON. SUNDAY 21st MARCH.

A group of 6 (Tracy, Fraser, Eirwen, Jo, Val and Krista) travelled to Alloa to take part in this popular half marathon. The weather stayed fine with some good times being posted. An excellent event enjoyed by all. Thanks to RoadRunPics and to Gillian for the photographs. Well done to all.

Tracy said: "I haven't done the Alloa half in a few years and I did enjoy it this time round. The race registration and start were organised very well, although the course frequently involved sharing roads with traffic and no pavements. Car drivers seem to be getting more risky with their behaviour, not prepared to delay their journey by 20 seconds, and instead driving dangerously close to runners at high speeds. This made me feel quite vulnerable at times, but it didn't put me off from feeling fine and sprinting the final 50 yards to the finish. The organisers of Alloa openly invites constructive feedback, there is a questionnaire on the website to give thoughts on the course/marshalls etc. This is always a friendly race, and I will most likely aim to do it again. Thanks to Gillian for coming up to support us even though she wasn't doing the run!"
Fraser said: "Alloa was a great day out, there were water stations exactly where they were needed. It was chip timed which is great given the 1000 people at the start finding space on a narrow street. The course is good with great views of the Wallace monument and the hills to the north, which distract you from the long, very straight road you are following. It fits in pretty well with the training schedule for the Edinburgh Marathon. The weather was great, warm with sunny patches at the beginning cooling later with the odd spit of rain at the end. I can't imagine better conditions. This was my first Half Marathon and the longest run I have ever completed, I was not put off. It was nice to share the day with so many ERN runners, and Tracy finishing with a smile at the end. :-)"
